2010s

This decade brought the sad news of the death of Mr. José Palau Francàs on August 30, 2012. Mr. Palau who co-founded the company over 61 years ago, left a legacy whose dimensions could hardly have been imagined back when the company was started in 1951.

International expansion began in this decade with the acquisition in 2011 of OTAM, the leading manufacturer of fans in Brazil. The Company had been operating successfully for many years and was very active in sectors as diverse as air conditioning, ventilation and industrial refrigeration, as well as ventilation in the agricultural, marine, chemical, steel, textile, mining and paper industries. Starting in 2012 several series of domestic ventilation products manufactured in Spain were introduced to the line of products manufactured by OTAM. In 2013 the company was renamed S&P Brazil Ventilaçao, Ltda.

In mid-2011 the significant growth of plastic products sold into the residential market sectors led to the decision to separate Rodin SA. A building was acquired in Torelló, Spain into which the Company was relocated providing significant additional capacity for production.

The year 2011 closed with a new acquisition of a Norwegian company COVENT which specialized in the manufacture of rotary heat exchangers. COVENT was well established in the field of heat recovery in commercial facilities and in UTAS for oil rigs. In 2013 the company was renamed S & P Norway AS.

In 2012 an agreement was reached to acquire the distributor Electrodesign in the Czech Republic. The company joined a long list of European subsidiary companies within the S&P Group. The European ErP regulations that came into force in 2013 required an enormous effort between 2010 and 2012 for the purposes of conducting tests and making modifications to improve the efficiency of many products within the standard catalogue.

The development of low consumption DC and EC motors was at an advanced stage. This resulted in the creation of the ECOWATT concept which would be associated with all products offering very low energy consumptions and therefore energy savings.

The use of these motors resulted in the launch of the SILENT ECOWATT and TD SILENT ECOWATT series. These products whilst having a niche field of application, assisted in strengthening the company’s position in terms of its image in the energy efficiency ventilation segment.

At the same time new ECOWATT variations of existing products such as the OZEO, CTB and CTBH were introduced. 2011 saw the release of a new series of induced air Car Park ventilators the centrifugal jet fans IFHT series.

In 2012 several series were released including the HP CTVT roof mounted fans for the 400 Deg C/2hrs applications; the TCDH in the flameproof range and CRHB / CRVB ECOWATT roof fans for high efficiency and energy saving benefits. Finally, during the same period, the CAB ECOWATT box fans were also released.

In early 2013, a significant development occurred in the area of heat recovery with the release of new versions of residential IDEO products, along with a full range of heat recovery units for the commercial ventilation sector such as CADB-N F7F7. Larger sizes of commercial heat recovery units were also released including the RHE series of high efficiency rotary heat exchange recovery units and the FLEXEO a modular unit that allows the installation to be configured by the customer as needed.

In 2012 S&P’s logo was redesigned firstly to provide it with a more modern appeal. The goal was to provide improved recognition of the brand name which the first time since its conception, removed the circle that had enclosed its initials. Secondly, to bring the brand into line with the ventilation Group’s logo. To support the new change of logo and to further reinforce the brand identity a process was initiated to rename most of the Group’s companies by having them adopt the nomenclature of “S&P” as the prefix to each company’s name.
